JURUPA VALLEY, Riverside County — October 23, 2026. California58 Local examined dated municipal public-hearing records. A recommendation, proposal or draft resolution is not reported as final approval unless an adopted record can confirm it.
Which district proposals were listed?
Jurupa Valley’s October 15 City Council agenda included hearings concerning Canterra Community Facilities District 2025-003 and Public Safety CFD PS 2024-013. The city describes the area generally north of Whitney Drive, south of Jurupa Road, east of Kirby Drive and west of Camino Real.
What is a Community Facilities District?
A CFD is a financing mechanism that can levy special taxes on qualifying properties under applicable legal procedures to pay for authorized facilities or services. Two distinct CFD proposals may address different service or infrastructure purposes. A preliminary resolution of intention is not the same as a tax appearing automatically on every resident’s property bill.
How does a special election fit in?
The agenda called for a public hearing, formation resolutions, a special election for qualified electors within the district, canvassing and recording steps, and ordinance readings. These actions have their own procedural requirements. The city agenda alone does not establish that special taxes were approved by those electors or when they would first be assessed.
What should prospective property owners examine?
Before buying a home in an affected tract, request the signed district boundary map, authorized annual special tax schedule, escalation method and any bond or service obligations. The relevant county tax bill and seller disclosures may provide further information. Do not apply a single Canterra proposal to the whole city.
